Park and Elkins Post Double Figures Against Catholic

How it Happened

  • Park knocked down two straight three-pointers to give Randolph-Macon an early 6-4 lead with 8:17 left in the first period. 
  • Sam White led the Cardinals on an 8-0 run, as she accounted for all eight points with two three-pointers and a lay-up. The run gave Catholic an early commanding lead 12-6 mid-way through the first period. 
  • The teams traded baskets in the final four minutes of the first period, as CUA took a 20-12 lead into the second. Elkins pulled down six rebounds in the first ten minutes to lead all players. 
  • The Cardinals outscored Randolph-Macon in the second period 20-9. Park led the scoring for the Lemon and Black with four points to give her ten at the half. White backed her eight first period points with eight more in the next ten minutes to total 16 for Catholic. CUA took a 40-21 lead into the halftime break using offense in the first period and defense in the next period. 
  • The third period saw both teams score 16 points, both teams traded baskets throughout the period, but Catholic still led the contest 56-37. Tori Fernandez led the way for the Cardinals with six points and Elkins scored four of the 16 points for Randolph-Macon. 
  • Elkins led the way for Randolph-Macon in the fourth period with four points. The Lemon and Black played tough in the final ten minutes outscoring the Cardinals 15-13. Catholic used a strong second period to take home a 69-52 win.   

Inside the Numbers

  • Randolph-Macon shot 34.5% from the floor as Catholic knocked down 38.5% of their shots.
  • Elkins had a career high in rebounds with 19, and with her 12 points notched her another double-double.
  • Park went 4-for-5 from the three point line, to end the afternoon with a team high 15 points and grabbed four rebounds.
