Millikin Women’s Basketball Remains Undefeated in CCIW

The 23rd ranked Millikin University women's basketball team won its 14th straight game downing North Park University 70-50 on February 1 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. Millikin improves to 17-3 overall and 11-0 and in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

 

Millikin opened the game on a 19-4 run and would never trail in the contest. The Big Blue lead 19-11 after one quarter and 38-23 at halftime.

North Park stayed close with each team scoring 18 points in the third quarter. Millikin closed out the game with a 14-9 advantage in the fourth quarter.

 

Millikin shot 40.6 percent (26-64) from the field and went 8-22 (36 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue struggled at the free throw line making only 10-17. North Park shot 40 percent (20-50) from the field going 3-12 from beyond the arc. North Park committed 29 turnovers while Millikin had 19 of its own. Millikin won the rebounding battle 36-32.

 

Elyce Knudsen led the way for Millikin with 23 points and three assists. Bailey Coffman chipped in 14 points. Sarah Isaf scored nine points. Sophie Darden had eight points and tied Abby Ratsch for the team high in rebounds with six.

 

Ester Miller led North Park with 13 points and three rebounds. Elisha Dunlap had a team high nine rebounds and eight points.

 

North Park falls 7-14, 3-9.

 

Millikin will play at Wheaton College on Saturday, February 4.
