William Paterson Women's Basketball Falls to TCNJ, 53-41

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (9-5, 4-3 NJAC) fell to The College of New Jersey (10-4, 5-2 NJAC), 53-41, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest on Jan. 7 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • It was a two-point game (12-10) entering the second quarter before the Lions outscored the Pioneers, 18-8, in the frame to go into the half up by 12. In the quarter, TCNJ shot 60 percent (6-of-10) from the floor, while knocking down three 3-pointers.
  • Despite a late 9-0 fourth-quarter William Paterson run that started with 6:58 remaining in the game and lasted over four minutes, the Lions' lead proved to be insurmountable and TCNJ secured the conference victory.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior Justina Cabezas scored a game-high 14 points to pair with seven boards.
  • Junior Brianna Smith poured in nine points.
  • Sophomore Victoria Palladino logged seven in the scoring column with seven rebounds and two steals.
  • Freshman Renee Wells recorded six points and six rebounds.
