Inside the Box Score

  • Tiffany Manning recorded a team-high 19 points in her first action of the season, while pulling down eight rebounds.

  • Na'Vaye Quarles had 11 points, four assists and four steals.

  • Tam Stanford finished with 10 points on the night.  

How it Happened

  • Stevenson's Laci Johnson started a 9-2 run over the game's first five minutes  by converting back-to-back layups.

  • The Blazers answered with an 11-5 run of their own during the next four minutes. Hitting five of the next seven shots during that span, Hood's Marlise Newson knocked down  a jumper that gave the Blazers their first lead of the game 13-12 with just over a minute to go in the first period. 

  • Aysia Ferguson made a layup with seconds left to give Stevenson a slim lead after the first period 17-15.

  • Hood trailed 25-19 midway through the second period before scoring eight straight points, the last five by Manning, to tie the game at 27-27 with just over four minutes left in the half. . 

  • The Mustangs closed the second quarter with a 14-5 run that was capped off by a Tessa Boswell three-pointer right before the horn. Stevenson shot 75 percent in the last four minutes to extend its lead to 41-32 at the half.

  • Hood battled back in to start the third period, going on a 11-4 run to start the period. Stanford's jumper got the Blazers back within two, 45-43, just over halfway through the third period. 

  • Stevenson pushed its lead out to double digits in the third quarter, thanks to a 17-2 run that was led by Morgan Pennick and Maleah Smith that had four points each.

  • The Mustangs led 62-45 after the third period and stretched it to 18 at the end of the game 73-55.

Analysis

  • The Blazers held the advantage at the foul line shooting 8-for-11 (73 percent) to the Mustangs 8-for-18 (44 percent). 

  • Stevenson shot 30-for-64 from the field (47 percent). Hood finished 22-for-65 (34 percent)

  • The Mustangs benched outscored Hood 30-15. 

For the Opponent

  • Johnson hit 6-of-10 field goals, to lead Stevenson in points with 12. 

  • Smith grabbed eight rebounds, while having 10 points. 

  • Erin Dixon finished the evening with 11 points and six rebounds. 

Notes

  • Hood dropped to 2-4 (0-1), while Stevenson improved to 2-3 (1-0).
