GENEVA, NY - A total of 12 players from the University of Rochester women's basketball team scored in a big 92-48 victory over host William Smith College on Tuesday evening at Bristol Gymnasium.

Rochester's victory is the fifth in a row to start the 2022-23 season, marking the Yellowjackets (5-0) best start to a season since 2017-18 when UR also jumped out of the gates 5-0. William Smith falls to 1-2 with the early season loss.

In the newest poll released on Tuesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), Rochester checked in at #18 in Division III.

UR's best quarter was the second, as Rochester outscored the Herons 26-6, blowing open a 10-point game at the end of the first period to a 30-point margin at halftime.

To open the contest, UR started out quick, leading 17-2 after the games first five and a half minutes. 12 of those points came from leading scorer Katie Titus, with Claire Groenewoud closing the run with a 3-pointer.

Titus finished the contest with 29 points, making 12 of 18 from the field and three 3-pointers. The Yellowjackets only other player in double-figures was Haley Dumiak who scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.

In the second quarter, four points each from Titus and Alexis Sestric built the Yellowjacket lead to 31-13 before the Herons got a jumper from Katie Smythe to stop the scoring run.

Over the remainder of the period, it was much of UR's bench providing the scoring, as Dumiak scored seven, Nora Fairbanks-Lee added three and both Raquel Williams and Trinity Johnson scored a basket.

Johnson had a solid statline for Rochester, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor, ending with eight points and a team-high six rebounds. Williams finished with six for the Yellowjackets who ended the night shooting 50% as a team (36-for-72).

With the game at hand, the second half allowed UR to balance out its minutes with only Hailey Bruneau seeing more than 20 minutes played during the entire game. Overall, each of the 13 players who saw time on the floor for Rochester played at least 10 minutes.

Other top scorers for the Yellowjackets included Sestric who scored nine and Paige Gaynier who had seven.

Bruneau did a little bit of everything in her first career start, recording 3 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals.

Williams and Groenewoud each finished with six points, with Groenewoud sinking two of Rochester's nine 3-pointers on the day.

Rochester returns to action after the Thanksgiving break with a game next Tuesday at home against Keuka College. Tip time is 7 pm from the Palestra.
