The University of Rochester women's basketball team rolled to its fourth straight win to being the season, capturing the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout tournament title on Saturday evening, defeating Nazareth College 78-55 at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

UR now stands at 4-0 on the year, winning a pair of tournaments in the season's first two weeks, as the Yellowjackets claimed the UR Chuck Resler Tournament title last weekend. The loss moves Nazareth to 1-3 on the year.

Rochester graduate student Katie Titus was named tournament MVP for her performance during the two games. She finished Saturday's contest with a game high 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting. She sank 4-of-7 from 3-point range and led UR with seven rebounds and four steals.

Teammate Abby Gress joined Titus on the All-Tournament team with 15 points on Saturday, making three 3-pointers and adding six rebounds.

Nazareth's Brielle Reidinger, RIT's Emma Waite and St. John Fisher's Kaitlyn Walker and Sidney Tomasso were the remaining individuals on the All-Tournament Team.

Rochester started out fast in Saturday's contest, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead thanks to layups from Titus and Alexis Sestric and a triple from Gress.

The Yellowjacket starters provided all the scoring in the opening quarter for the home team, as Rochester ended the first up 17-10. Sestric finished with ten points, while Callie McCulley added six points and five boards. Maura Leverone did not score, but dished out seven assists from her point guard spot.

UR's lead quickly ballooned to 12 early in the second quarter after Gress made another 3-pointer and McCulley added a jumper from the baseline.

Rochester kept the offensive pressure on, adding 3-pointers from Hailey Bruneau and Haley Dumiak late in the period, pushing the lead to 15.

Nazareth's Chelsea Woodsum sank a triple with seconds remaining, sending the teams into halftime with Rochester up 36-24.

Reidinger made the opening basket of the second half for the Golden Flyers, trimming the lead to ten, but that was as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way.

Titus took over in the third quarter for the Yellowjackets, scoring 16 of Rochester's 22 points in the period. She sank back-to-back three's on two straight possessions, kicking off an 8-0 run which made the Rochester lead 46-28.

In a 10-2 burst to close the quarter, Titus added another eight points, including two trey's to give the Yellowjackets a 22-point advantage heading to the fourth.

3-pointers by Gress and Paige Gaynier put the game away, allowing the Yellowjackets to get some younger players playing time over the final few minutes of the contest.

Those players provided some additional points late in the game, with Raquel Williams scoring six points and Trinity Johnson chipping in a basket.

Rochester's transition game was a big factor, as the Yellowjackets outscored Nazareth 21-0. Overall, UR shot 44% in the win, making 30 of 68 shots.

Nazareth meanwhile, shot just 32% from the floor (20-for-63) and made just five 3-pointers.
