SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's basketball team opened February with its third straight win, rolling by the Washington Adventist Shock, 64-46, on Tuesday night at Maggs Physical Activities Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After the Shock got the first points on a Brianna Jones layup, Kaylee Otlowski tied it with a jumper and then hit a layup to give the Sea Gulls a lead they would not relinquish. Otlowski and Caitlin Reed combined to score the next 10 points and put SU up 10-2 at the 4:53 mark of the first quarter.
• Nyelle Allen broke up the run with a layup for WAU, but Lauren Fortescue answered with a layup that sparked another big SU run. Otlowski connected on another jumper, then Kylie Webb hit a triple to make it 17-4. Abby Wilkinson converted a layup on the Sea Gulls' next possession, and Ashlynn Burrows capped the first with a jumper to make it an 11-0 run and 21-4 Salisbury cushion.
• The Shock got back into it in the second quarter, with Jaynaya Peterson's three-pointer trimming the deficit to 22-12 at the 5:27 mark. The Sea Gulls found their stroke with 3:46 to go as Fortescue batted down a steal and found Webb for a breakaway layup to make it 24-12.
• Up 26-14 with 1:40 to go, Otlowski slinked inside for another layup, then after a pair of WAU free throws the Sea Gulls closed out the half on a Hailey Ader jumper, making it 30-16 SU headed into the break.
• After the Shock netted the first three points of the third quarter, Fortescue nailed a jumper to set up a personal 7-0 run. Otlowski stole the ball on the next possession and found Fortescue for a wing three, then Fortescue took another pass from Otlowski and hit a layup to put SU on top 37-21 at the 7:12 mark.
• Emily Dilger's layup pushed the Sea Gull lead to 18 at 39-21, but Abigail Litton stopped the bleeding for the Shock with a three. Down 43-24 at the 4:22 mark, Serenity Turnbull converted a layup that set up a 6-0 WAU run, trimming the deficit to 43-30 with 3:05 to go.
• Dilger stopped the Shock run with a jumper at the 1:55 mark, then Tori Rumbaugh grabbed a steal and went coat-to-coast for a layup to rebuild the SU lead to 47-30. WAU answered with the final five of the quarter, though, as Joneisha Cain sank a three and Peterson drained a layup to get the Shock back within 47-35 as the third came to an end.
• Leading 49-38 at the 7:00 mark of the fourth quarter, Otlowski made a second-chance layup and converted a three-point play, kickstarting a 13-2 Sea Gull push that salted the game away. Dilger's layup at the 3:33 mark built the SU lead to 62-40.
• The Shock nibbled four points off the final margin and the Sea Gulls walked away with an 18-point victory at 64-46.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Kaylee Otlowski notched her eighth double-double of the season and 29th of her Sea Gull career, scoring a game-high 19 points with 14 boards. She also added seven assists and six steals. With 717 career rebounds, Otlowski entered the top 10 in SU history in the category, surpassing Kiera Watkins for 10th place.
• Lauren Fortescue posted a well-rounded line of her own, netting 12 points (4-of-14) with two rebounds, four assists and four steals.
• Kylie Webb and Emily Dilger chipped in eight points apiece.
• The Sea Gulls shot 40 percent (28-of-70) for the game, assisting on 22 of their 28 buckets.
• Salisbury forced 26 WAU turnovers, managing 18 steals, its most since Nov. 20. Otlowski led the way with six swipes, while Fortescue and Jada Welbon each managed four.
• Before the game the Sea Gulls recognized their five seniors as they played their penultimate game at Maggs PAC: guards Lauren Fortescue, Caitlin Reed, Kylie Webb and Jada Welbon and forward Kaylee Otlowski.

WASHINGTON ADVENTIST GAME NOTES

• Jaynaya Peterson led the Shock with 12 points (5-of-13) and hauled in four rebounds.
• Nyelle Allen managed a double-double off the bench, netting 10 points (4-of-13) and 11 boards, including six on the offensive glass.
• The Shock made just 29 percent (18-of-62) of their field goals for the game.
• WAU outrebounded Salisbury 48-43, including 19-18 on the attacking end.

• The Sea Gulls will play four of their final five regular season games on the road, starting on Saturday with a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) showdown at Mary Washington.
• Tipoff from the William M. Anderson Center is set for 1 p.m.
