WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead en route to a 65-49 victory over visiting Westminster College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.

The victory is the sixth straight for the Presidents, who improve to 11-3 overall. W&J remains unbeaten in PAC play as they move to 8-0. The loss drops Westminster to 6-3 in league play and 9-6 overall.

Three Presidents scored in double figures. Freshman guard/forward Meghan Dryburgh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) registered her four double-double of the season, as she finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dryburgh added five assists in the victory.

Senior guard Piper Morningstar (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) finished with 13 points, which included a pair of three-pointers. Junior forward Victoria Koeck (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) tallied a season-high 11 points behind an efficient four-for-five performance from the field. Koeck drained both attempts from beyond the three-point line while adding four rebounds and two assists.

Fellow starters, senior guard Kamryn Lach (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and sophomore center Sarah Berardelli (Ambridge, Pa./North Catholic), tallied nine points and eight points, respectively.

W&J raced out to an early 10-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. Morningstar opened the game with a three and finished the run with a layup to account for half of the W&J points during the run. After a three-pointer by Mariah Vincent got the Titans on the board at the 4:12 mark, Lach answered with a triple and Koeck added a layup to stretch the Presidents' lead to 15-3 less than a minute later. W&J led 15-9 after the opening quarter.

A layup by Natalie Murrio brought the Titans with three, as her field goal cut the W&J lead to 18-15 at the 7:49 mark of the second quarter. The Presidents took control from there, as the home team recorded 17 unanswered points to take a 20-point lead (35-15) with 3:08 to play before halftime. Consecutive old-fashioned three-point plays by Koeck and junior forward Maddi Gutierrez (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) highlighted the run. The Titans tallied the final six points of the first half to pull within 14 at the break, as the hosts held a 35-21 lead.

W&J maintained a double-digit point lead throughout the second half of play. Westminster trimmed the deficit to 10 with 1:34 to play in the third after a three-point field goal by Vincent. However, W&J closed the quarter strong, as Dryburgh converted back-to-back layups before senior guard Aleena McDaniel (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) sank a layup to put W&J in front 50-36 after three.

The Titans trimmed the deficit to 10 points two more times in the fourth. However, a three-point play by Dryburgh put the Presidents up 56-42 with 7:15 to play. Lach closed the scoring by burying a three-point field goal with 43 seconds to play.

W&J converted 7-of-18 attempts from beyond the arc. W&J made 45.6 percent from the field (26-of-57). W&J held a slight 34-30 edge in rebounding. The Presidents limited the Titans to 22.7 percent from three-point range and forced 15 turnovers.
