Every Hope player scored. A huge second quarter. An opponent held to less than 30 points. And a freshman leading the way in scoring.

Those were just some of the macro-ingredients mixed into a dominating win by the Hope College women's basketball team at Adrian College on Saturday. Along the way, Hope took care of the finer matters, too. After seven days off due to a midweek bye, the No. 2-ranked Flying Dutch did not miss a beat in defeating the Bulldogs, 96-28.

Undefeated overall (21-0), Hope leads the MIAA with a 12-0 record. The Flying Dutch also continue to lead the NCAA Division III in scoring defense (40.9 points) and scoring margin (34.9 points).

Adrian now holds an 8-13 overall record and a 2-10 league mark for seventh place.

All 15 players on Hope's active roster scored against the Bulldogs, led by guard Meg Morehouse of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS), pictured. The freshman guard shot 4-for-5 from the field and was perfect from the free throw line (8-for-8). Morehouse also grabbed four rebounds during 14 minutes of play. 

Uncharacteristically, Hope was not the first team to score and did not lead wire-to-wire. But by 7:03 in the first quarter, the Flying Dutch took command and really stepped on the gas with a 31-point second quarter.

The Flying Dutch built to their largest lead — 68 — at the final buzzer. Hope kept Adrian from scoring in double digits in a quarter until the fourth when the Bulldogs put up 12.

Hope shot well from the field at 50.7% while it held Adrian to a 23.3% shooting percentage. The Flying Dutch forced the Bulldogs into 40 turnovers and turned those miscues into 49 points.

Other Hope players scoring in double digits were junior guard Lauren Newman of Flushing (Flusing HS) with 13 points, junior guard Kenedy Schoonveld of Zeeland (Holland Christian HS) with 12, and freshman guard Claire Baguley of Ada (Forest Hills Central HS) with 11.

Forwards Mallory Gerber of Schaumburg, Illinois (Schaumburg HS) and Courteney Barnes of Mokena, Illinois (Lincoln Way-Central HS) led in rebounding with 6 apeice. Senior guard Arika Tolkert of Lathrup Village (Detroit Country Day HS) had the most Hope assists with six.
