Trinity Women's Basketball Takes Down Norwich

Hartford, Conn. – First-year guard Bria Fuller (Springdale, Md.) scored 25 points with three assists and three steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 74-47 victory over the visiting Norwich University Cadets in women's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 2-1, while the Cadets drop to 0-3.  Trinity visits Coast Guard in its first road game of the year on Wednesday at 7 p.m.  Norwich hosts NVU-Johnson on Friday at 7 p.m. in its next game.

Norwich junior Kailynne Frederick (Adams, Mass.) made a pair of free throws and assisted classmate Riley Bennett (Hopkinton, N.H) on a layup in the closing seconds of the first quarter to tie the game at 12-all.  Fuller scored the first five points of the second frame to ignite an 18-5 Bantam run.  Trinity led, 32-19, at the break and stayed hot with an 18-7 run to start the third quarter that included seven points by sophomore guard Bailey Hyland (Broad Brook, Conn.).  Leading, 51-30, after three quarters, the Bantams increased their advantage to as many as 36 at 69-33 on a drive by Kaylen Campbell (Hillsborough, N.C.) with 3:24 remaining.

Fuller made 10 of 13 shots from the floor and five of seven from long range to get to 25, while Hyland added 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a blocked shot.  Bantam sophomore center Elizabeth Althoff (Staten Island, N.Y.) was one of three Bantams with six rebounds and added eight points, four assists, and two blocked shots.  Bennett paced Norwich with 15 points, while Frederick added eight points and six boards.  The Cadets shot just 33.3 percent from the field and committed 24 turnovers.
