No. 10 Hope Hits 20-Win Mark For 21st Consecutive Season

Forward Mallory Gerber came off the bench to lead a balanced scoring effort for the No. 10-ranked Hope College women's basketball team in a 73-37 win at Saint Mary's College on Saturday.

The sophomore from Schaumburg, Illinois (Schaumburg HS) scored a team-high 10 points off the bench for the Flying Dutch.

Hope reached the 20-win mark for the 21st consecutive season by improving to 20-3 overall and 12-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Gerber scored eight points during a 24-point second quarter that gave the Flying Dutch a 40-15 halftime lead.

A total of 13 different Hope players scored against 10-13 Saint Mary's, which is tied for fourth place in the MIAA standings with a 7-7 league record.

Guard Kenedy Schoonveld of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian) chipped in nine points.

Defensively, Hope held an opponent under 40 points for the sixth time this season.

The Flying Dutch limited Saint Mary's (10-13) to 26.0 percent field goal shooting (13-50)  and forced the Belles into 22 turnovers.
