Hartford, Conn. – Junior guard Emily Chang (Newton, Mass.) scored her only three points on a game-winning trey with seven seconds left to lead the visiting Williams College Ephs to a 64-61 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity falls to 15-4 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC with its first loss in five games, while the Ephs improve to 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the league with their first win in four games.  Senior center Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) led all scorers with 26 points and grabbed her 500th career rebound for the Bantams.  Trinity hosts NESCAC rival Middlebury on Sunday, January 27 at 2 p.m. in its next game, and the Ephs play Babson on Monday, January 28 at 6 p.m.

Trinity trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half but scored seven points in a row over a span of 1:40 late in the fourth quarter.  With Williams ahead, 61-54, with 3:40 left in the game, Trinity junior Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) started the comeback with a put-back that was followed by a three-pointer by senior co-captain Erin Cunningham (Wilton, Conn.) and a banker from the right wing by rookie Kaylen Campbell (Hillsborough, N.C.) that tied the contest at 61-all with 2:11 on the clock.  Williams missed its next three shots but Trinity turned the ball over twice and missed a layup in the final two minutes to give the visitors the ball with 30 seconds remaining.  Chang drilled her second shot attempt of the night from well beyond the top of the key to put Williams ahead, 64-61, and a contested trey by Cunningham with one second left bounced off the rim.

Erickson had 12 points for Trinity and sophomore guard Maggie Meehan (Southington, Conn.) had 10 for Williams in the first half, as the teams went to the locker rooms tied 28-28.  The Ephs outscored the Bantams, 20-13, in the third quarter and took a 47-37 lead with 1:29 on the clock on a steal and short jumper by sophomore guard Mikaela Topper (Cupertino, Calif.).  Trinity scored nine of the first 13 points of the final frame, including six by Erickson, to cut its deficit to 54-51 at the 6:56 mark, but the Ephs scored seven of the next 10 points to go ahead, 61-54, on a Meehan jumper.

Erickson made 12 of 17 shots from the field to finish a point shy of her career high, and became the 12th Bantam woman to reach the 500-rebound milestone with the fourth of her six boards.  Kabari added eight points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and three steals, while Cunningham finished with nine points, five boards, and four assists, and Campbell scored seven of her nine points off the bench in the second half.  Williams shot 51.9 percent from the field, including 55.2 percent after halftime.  Four Ephs finished in double figures in scoring, led by Meehan with 18 points and junior forward Katie Brule (Iron Mountain, Mich.) with 15 points.  Williams sophomore guard Gabby Martin (Madison, Conn.) added 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals, while Topper finished with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals, and senior Lauren Vostal (Manasquan, N.J.) grabbed a game-high seven boards.  The teams combined for 40 turnovers.
