Baruch Defeats Lehman on Athletic Alumni Day

Melinda Spahiu scored 15 points and the Baruch College Bearcats forced the Lightning of Lehman College into 30 turnovers to record a 55-28 home win on Athletic Alumni Day at Baruch College.

The Bearcats scored the first five points and led the entire contest to earn their third win of the CUNYAC schedule.

The two teams played a competitive opening quarter to start, but the Bearcats built on a 17-13 lead by scoring six straight points to end the first quarter ahead, 23-13.

The Lightning did rally in the third quarter to get as close as seven points (29-22), but the Bearcats this time put the game out of reach with a game-busting 14-1 run for the win.

In addition to the 15 points, Spahiu also tallied seven steals, six rebounds and five assists. Frances Snyder and Natalie Ibelhaupt had nine points each to help the team win for the third time in the last four games.

Eriadna Vasquez was tops for Lehman with 13 points.
