Brunswick, Maine – The visiting Trinity College Bantams fell, 76-63, against the top-ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action on Friday evening in Morrell Gymnasium.  Trinity drops to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC, while Bowdoin is now 14-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.  Trinity visits NESCAC rival Colby on Sunday, January 13 at 2 p.m. and Bowdoin entertains Southern Maine tomorrow night at 6 p.m.

Bowdoin scored the first seven points of the game, built a double-digit lead thanks to seven early points from Maddie Hasson, and led 23-9 after the first ten minutes.  The Bantams stayed within striking distance in the second quarter, as sophomore guard Allie Morin (Westwood, Mass.) hit a pair of three-pointers. Bowdoin owned a 37-23 lead at the break.  The Polar Bears put the game away in the third quarter, hitting on 11 of 18 shots from the field to push their advantage to 23 points at 61-38 entering the fourth quarter.  The Bantams made a late surge to close the final margin to 13, shooting 68.8 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter and receiving eight points from senior co-captain forward Erin Cunningham (Wilton, Conn.).

Cunningham was Trinity's lone double-digit scorer with 14 points, while classmate Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) grabbed a team-high six rebounds, and junior Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) dished four assists.  Maddie Hasson scored 23 points, making 10 of her 13 shots from the field, while Abby Kelly had 13 points, and Taylor Choate added 11 for the home team. Samantha Roy scored ten points with nine assists for the Polar Bears.  Trinity made 11 of its 18 attemts from long range, but both teams connected on less than half of their free throws.
