SALEM, Va. - The Hood College women's basketball team committed only two turnovers, the fewest in Division III this season and tied for the fewest in any division, in a 70-58 win over Susquehanna at the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic.

• The mistake-free performance gives the Blazers two of the three games with the fewest turnovers in Division III this season. Hood committed five miscues against Lancaster Bible earlier this year. 
• All of the extra possessions helped Hood tied the school record with 12 3-point field goals in the game. Hood went 12 of 31 as a team from behind the arc (39 percent). It tied the 12 3-pointers the Blazers made at Mary Baldwin in 2007. 
• Mia Savoy and Maggie Tien scored 18 points apiece to lead the Blazers. Tien's 18 points and six 3-pointers were both career-highs. Savoy nailed four 3-point field goals in the game. 
• Tamiya Ford scored 10 points. 
• Ebony Pitt dished out six assists. 

How it Happened

• The Crimson Hawks opened the game with an 11-4 run but Hood chipped away and trailed just 16-13 heading into the second period. 
• A 3-pointer by Zara Whitfield gave the Blazers their first lead of the day, 25-23, with 4:13 to go in the half. 
• Hood led 28-26 at the half. 
• Tien opened the second half with a 3-pointer to make it 31-26 but Susquehanna scored five straight points to tie the game. Alanna Connolly gave the Crimson Hawks a 40-36 lead with 6:18 remaining in the third. Threes by Tien and Pitt tied the score at 42-42 with 4:44 left. After another basket by Connolly, Tien hit a 3-pointer to give the Blazers the lead for good.  
• Hood led 53-51 after the third quarter and held Susquehanna to only seven points in the fourth quarter to pull away. The Blazers closed the game with a 17-4 run. 

Notes

• Amanda Lemire scored 17 points and Nevin Hoenninger added 12 for the Crimson Hawks. 
• Hood joins Divison I Northern Illinois and Division II schools Palm Beach Atlantic and Humboldt State with games of just two turnovers this year. 
• The Blazers held Susquehanna to just 5 of 18 from 3-point range (28 percent).
