- The Lead: A 15-5 run during the final 3:25 of the opening frame gave nationally-ranked No. 2 Bowdoin College a lead it would not relinquish as it went on to defeat MIT, 78-57, in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon. Senior Taylor V'Dovec (Blaine, Wash.) led the Engineers' balanced attack with 13 points while grabbing four rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- A three-pointer by senior Kara Holinski (Livonia, Mich.) gave MIT a 14-10 edge at the 3:37 mark of the first quarter. A layup during Bowdoin's ensuing possession ignited the pivotal 15-5 run which created a 25-19 lead at the end of the frame.

- The Polar Bears' margin grew to 29-19 early in the second stanza, however, the Engineers battled back, coming within 29-26 courtesy of senior Kristen Ngan's (Sudbury, Mass.) trey with 6:34 on the clock. Bowdoin gradually pulled away, entering halftime with a 43-30 advantage.

- The Polar Bears maintained their comfortable cushion throughout the second half, establishing their largest lead at 27 points (78-51) with 1:16 left to play.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Holinski finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals while Ngan posted 11 points.

- Senior Dolly Yuan (San Jose, Calif.) generated eight points and five assists as sophomore Kylie Gallagher (Upton, Mass.) hauled in a game-high eight rebounds.
