SCRANTON, Pa. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost in the first round of the 2018 NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Tournament to hosts and nationally-ranked University of Scranton 68-48 on Friday night.
Keuka College (21-6) was led by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 14 points. Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) scored seven points and had five assists. Junior Abby Hess (Cortland, N.Y. / Cortland) led the Wolves with eight rebounds.

Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) opened the scoring in the game with a basket one minute into the game. The teams would trade baskets early on. A Sam Laranjo jumper at 7:01 gave the Wolves a 6-5 lead. Unfortunately for Keuka, that would be their last field goal of the quarter. Scranton went on a 15-1 run for the final seven minutes of action to lead 20-7 after the first.
The Keuka College offense started to settle in during the second quarter. The Wolves made 43% of their shots and increased the defensive pressure as well. The Green and Gold forced multiple Royal turnovers in the frame. Keuka College would cut the margin down to 10 during the quarter, but Scranton answered. A buzzer-beating jumper pushed Scranton ahead in second quarter scoring 17-16 and gave the Royals a 37-23 lead at the half.
The Wolves started the third with a three by Lauren Anten, but the Royals responded with six unanswered. Scranton pushed their lead to 21 points in the third. A pair of late free throws by the Green and Gold made it 53-34 going into the final quarter.
Scranton University closed out their NCAA Tournament victory in the fourth. They outscored Keuka 15-14 in the quarter on their way to the 68-48 victory.

- The Green and Gold fall to 0-3 against Scranton all-time. The Wolves are 0-5 in their five tournament appearances and are 0-12 all-time against nationally ranked opponents
- The difference in the game was from beyond the arc as Scranton made 10 three-pointers in the game and Keuka College made just three
