Northampton, MA --- Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to propel the second-seeded WPI women's basketball team to a 64-56 overtime win against third-seeded Babson in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Saturday afternoon at Ainsworth Gymnasium on the campus of Smith College.

With the win, second-seeded WPI (22-5), who was ninth in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings, extends its winning streak to eight games and advances to the NEWMAC title game for the third consecutive year and will face fifth-seeded MIT Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The matchup was a rematch of the past two title tilts which the Engineers won in 2016, It will be the program's fifth finals appearance in the NEWMAC era to go along with three in the NEW-8.

Maura Buckley (Melrose, MA) finished with 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals for the Engineers. Madison Beck (Syracuse, NY) added 10 points and six rebounds, while Stasha Greenalch (Newington, CT) posted 12 points, five boards, and three steals.

For the Beavers, Payton Ouimette (Medfield, MA) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, NY) scored 10 points and grabbed five boards while Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, CT) poured in 11 points and added eight rebounds off the bench.

The Engineers jumped out to an 8-1 lead on Buckley's jumper with 5:45 remaining in the first quarter. A layup from Ouimette brought the Beavers to within one (10-9) but WPI ended the quarter on a 4-0 run on baskets from Beck and Maddie Blake (Bedford, NH).

Alana Keating's (Leominster, MA) three-pointer gave WPI their largest lead of the half, 21-10, at the 7:57 mark, but Babson would put together a 19-4 run to close out the period.

Biney led the way for the Engineers in the third quarter, pouring in six points as WPI used a 5-0 run at the end of the third to make it a one-point game, 42-41.

Jumpers by Jozefick and Ouimette gave Babson a 46-41 advantage 2:11 into the fourth but the Engineers would fight back and take the lead on a Buckley trey. Leading 53-51, Beck went one-of-two from the free throw line for a three-point advantage with 36 seconds on the clock.

Babson's Jozefick then drew a foul while attempting a three-pointer to give the Beavers a chance to tie the game. Jozefick stepped to the charity stripe and drained all three free throws to even the game at 54-54. WPI's attempt at a buzzer-beater was off the mark and the two teams would head into overtime.

WPI outscored Babson 10-2 in the extra frame to go on for the 64-56 victory.

The Engineers shot 36.8 percent (25-of-68) from the field and scored 15 points off of turnovers.

The Beavers shot 42.6 percent (20-of-47) and outrebounded the WPI 41-34.
