Rose-Hulman Wins 18th Straight, Clinches Outright HCAC Title

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology celebrated Senior Day by clinching the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball regular season championship, in a 52-40 win over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon.

Rose-Hulman improved to 20-3 overall and 16-0 in HCAC play with its 18th straight victory.  The Fightin' Engineers won their third consecutive HCAC regular season championship and will seek a second straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in the touranment at Hulbert Arena later this month.

Rose-Hulman also honored two senior starters in their final regular season home game.  Alyzia Dilworth has started 50 games and appeared in 95 at Rose-Hulman with 685 career points, 313 rebounds and 164 assists.  Lindsey Fagerberg has appeared in 56 games and started all 23 this season, with 195 points, 109 rebounds and 33 assists.

Dilworth and Fagerberg were two of three double-figure scorers on Senior Day with 11 points each.  Dilworth finished with a pair of three-pointers and three free throws, while Fagerberg hit 4-7 from the field with four rebounds.

Junior Ally Bromenschenkel also reached double figures for Rose-Hulman with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Junior Taylor Graham pitched in with seven points, four rebounds and four steals, and junior Chiarra Franklin contributed five points and seven rebounds.

The Fightin' Engineers struggled offensively in the second quarter, but outscored Earlham 16-7 in the third quarter and 17-8 in the fourth to secure the win.  

Rose-Hulman also increased its home winning streak to a school record 36 consecutive games.  The Fightin' Engineers will host the HCAC Tournament Semifinals on Feb. 23 and the HCAC Championship Game on Feb. 24.  Earlham dropped to 5-18 overall and 5-11 in league play.

The Fightin' Engineers close the regular season with two road games next week, with trips to Anderson on Wednesday and Manchester on Saturday.
