Valiants down Giants in non-conference action Monday evening

Purchase, NY—The Keystone College women's basketball team closed out a two-game road trip Monday evening with an 88-52 loss to Manhattanville College in non-conference action at Kennedy Gymnasium.

Senior guard Nina Hodanich led the Giants with 15 points and freshman forward Samy Farah and sophomore center Maddy Moro chipped in eight points apiece and combined to pull down 13 of Keystone's 31 rebounds.  Hodanich has now scored in double figures in two straight and four of her last five games.  She also finished with a season-high six steals.

Freshman guard Sarah Coutu scored a game-high 22 points and junior forward Kayleah McGuire added 20 as the Valiants shot over 48 percent from the field and nearly 84 percent from the free throw line improve to 15-3 on the season.   Manhattanville opened up a 24-12 lead after the first period and settled for a 46-22 advantage by intermission.

The Valiants also took advantage of 23 turnovers by the Giants, turning those miscues into 28 points.  Their bench also out-scored the Keystone reserves by a 30-11 margin.

Keystone, now 3-16, returns to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Wednesday, January 31, against Clarks Summit University beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Gambal Athletic Center in La Plume.
