Olivia Voskuil sparked a furious finish for the Hope College women's basketball team with back-to-back steals and fast-break layups.

The Flying Dutch nearly overcame a 13-point deficit with less than four minutes remaining before falling to Trine 58-55 at DeVos Fieldhouse in a matchup of nationally ranked teams.

Hope — No. 2 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Poll and No. 3 by D3hoops.com — dropped to 18-1 on the season and 9-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Trine — No. 11 in the D3hoops.com rankings and No. 12 in the WBCA poll — improved to 18-2 on the season and took a half-game lead in the MIAA standings with a 10-1 league record. The Thunder have played one more MIAA game and the Flying Dutch.

"We lost to a really good team," Hope coach Brian Morehouse said. "Amherst continues to win. Trine barely lost to them, the No. 1 team in the nation. Disappointed we lost, but as a measuring stick, I think Trine is pretty good. I think we're pretty good. They fought back to even the ledger. Now we've got to regroup and be ready to play on the road Wednesday."

Freshman guard Kenedy Schoonveld of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) scored a game-high 24 points for the Flying Dutch. She hit two 3s during the final 35 seconds to propel Hope — the final one coming with four seconds remaining and cutting Trine's lead to 57-55.
