BOSTON—Junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) paced four players in double figures with game highs of 18 points and 13 rebounds as visiting Babson College defeated Emerson College, 78-48, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Brown-Plofker Gymnasium.

Babson, which has won three straight and six of its last seven games, improves to 12-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play, while Emerson slips to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the NEWMAC.

Junior Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) finished with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while senior Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.) scored 11 points and pulled down a season-high eight boards for the Beavers. Junior Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) also added 11 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists in the win.

Junior Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead the Lions.

The Green and White opened the game with a 7-0 run, got nine first-quarter points from Ouimette and pushed its advantage to 19-10 on a three-pointer by first-year Nicole Hiller (Rocky Hill, Conn.) with under two minutes to go in the opening stanza. Emerson closed to within 20-17 on a triple by Sam Boyle () 46 seconds into the second quarter, but LeGacy and Lane scored nine points during a 14-2 run that helped the Beavers build a 39-25 halftime lead.

Babson extended its lead to as many as 20 in the third quarter and carried a 55-37 edge into the fourth following a three-point play by Ouimette. The Lions got as close as 15 on three occasions over the final 10 minutes, the last coming at 61-46 after a layup by first-year Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) with 5:12 left before the Green and White closed out the game with a 17-2 run.

LeGacy and sophomore Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) combined to score eight straight points to make it 69-46 with just over three minutes remaining. Hiller and first-year Shaye Galletta (Riverside, Conn.) followed with consecutive three-pointers to give the Beavers a 30-point lead with 1:36 to go.

Babson, which shot 41.8 percent, finished with a 54-27 edge on the glass and outscored Emerson 32-18 in the paint and 16-3 at the free throw line.

Both teams return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Beavers host Springfield, while the Lions take on Coast Guard.

• Babson is now 8-0 all-time against Emerson with seven double-digit victories in the series.
• Ouimette, who entered the night tied for sixth in Division III, recorded her league-leading 12th double-double on Wednesday.
