The Baruch College Bearcats lost in double overtime to the Lightning of Lehman College, 96-94, in one of the more exciting conference contests of the 2017-18 campaign.

The double overtime game is the first for the Bearcats in the past 20 years and the combined 190 points is the most since they defeated Plattsburgh State, 110-81, in the Championship Game of the Cardinal Classic on November 29, 2009.

The Bearcats found themselves down by 23 points midway through the third period, but battled all the way back by scoring 34 out of the next 45 points to stun the home crowd and tie the contest at 72 on a basket by Sameera Ahmed with 1:41 left.

The two teams battled back and forth until the Lightning in the second overtime built up a six point lead and held on for the win.

Rookie Melinda Spahiu had a big game with a career-high 33 points to go along with nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Shannon Barrett posted her sixth double-double by tying a career-high 18 rebounds and scoring 29 points, which included 22 points in the first half.

Daniela Arias notched 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and one steal.

Lynda Fields and Aliyah Dorsett led the hosts with 25 points each in yet another memorable contest in women's basketball between these two schools.
