Staten Island Defeats Baruch in CUNYAC Action

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 76-46 to the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

Both teams struggled shooting from the field in the first half, but the visiting Dolphins broke open the contest in the second half by shooting 53 percent (16-for-32), which included 7-of-14 from three, to record their fifth win in conference play.

The Bearcats featured a balanced scoring attack with Staten Island native Melinda Spahiu scoring 12 points, followed by Sameera Ahmed and Shannon Barrett (13 rebounds) with 10 points each.  

Daniela Arias contributed eight points, four assists and two steals. Lissette Debord grabbed six rebounds.

Samantha Flecker led three Dolphins in double-figure scoring with a near double-double of 23 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Christina Pasaturo had 22 points.

Today's game was part of the Third Annual Baruch Student-Athlete Alumni Day and was broadcast as the CUNYAC Game of The Week.
