For the second straight game, four starters scored in double figures, led by a season-high 19 points from Holly Schneider, as the Buena Vista women's basketball team wrapped up its California trip with a thrilling 71-67 victory over Cal Lutheran on Friday night.

Schneider was aided by a 4-of-6 effort from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.  She made four straight inside the final minute to hold off a late surge.  Claudia Larsen flirted with a triple-double for the second straight game, scoring 18 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out five assits.  She was 7-of-10 from the field and was 16-of-23 over the two days with 25 rebounds and 13 assists.

The Beavers were 48 percent overall from the field and made 5-of-13 from long range.  The team was only 57 percent at the line but did sink the ones it needed down the stretch.

Both teams struggled to put points on the board in the first quarter with Cal Lutheran holding a 12-7 advantage.  BVU began to take control in the second quarter by outscoring Regals 25-12 and building a 32-24 halftime lead.

Both teams scored 18 third-quarter points, and the Regals got as close as two insinde the final 30 seconds but Schneider stepped up and hit a pair of free-throws to keep the margin at four.

Cal Lutheran (7-4) was able to stay in the contest with 12 made three-point buckets.  BVU held a slim 39-36 advantage on the glass.

The Beavers close out their non-conference slate with consecutive wins and improve to 6-5 on the year.  They will resume Iowa Conference play on Wednesday, January 3, when they travel to Nebraska Wesleyan for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
