New Paltz's Kit Small Named Second Team All-East Region by D3hoops.com

D3hoops.com 2016-17 Women's All-East Region Team

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Senior guard/forward Kit Small (Slingerlands, N.Y./Academy of the Holy Names) of the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team has been named to the D3hoops.com All-East Region Second Team, announced on Monday afternoon.

Small helped lead the Hawks (20-9) to their second-straight SUNYAC title in 2016-17 and helped the program advance to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history with first and second round victories over Bowdoin and Ithaca.

The senior, who earned First Team All-SUNYAC accolades this season, led the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game, assists per game (2.8) and steals per game (2.0). The senior recorded double-figure points in 23 of 29 games she played and notched 20 points or more in four contests.

This season, Small hit key milestones in the program, becoming the fourth student-athlete to hit the 1,000 career-point mark before securing her spot as the all-time leading scorer with 1,137 points after recording 20 points against SUNY Oneonta on Jan. 14.

Small concludes her career with 1,334 points (1st all-time), 617 rebounds (3rd all-time), 219 assists (7th all-time), 167 steals and 58 blocks (7th all-time).
