WBB: Ganzi Goes Over 1,400 Career Points, Podlovits 400 Career Assists in Baruch Win at MEC

The women's basketball team rolled past the Cougars of Medgar Evers College, 76-56, in a CUNYAC contest on Friday night in Brooklyn, New York.

Veronica Ganzi led the Bearcats in the first quarter with nine out of the team's 13 first quarter points. 

Strong defensive pressure in the first half forced 13 turnovers by the Cougars, as the visiting Bearcats were able to snatch eight steals. The first half ended, 31-23. 

The Bearcats' momentum would elevate in the third quarter where they eventually led by a game-high 24 points. The story of the third quarter was the Bearcats' efficiency in capitalizing again on Cougars' turnovers, with a total of 11 points off turnovers leading to eight fast break points. 

Ganzi finished with 32 points and nine rebounds. With the 32 points, she also surpassed 1,400 career points to move into third all-time on the scoring charts.

Kristen Podlovits was the master playmaker of the game leading the team with 10 assists, 12 points and four steals. Podlovits also went over 400 career assists to move into top three on the all-time team's assist charts.

Shannon Barrett recorded 12 point and a team-high 12 rebounds. This brings her to a total of 13 double doubles for the season.

For the second straight game and third time this season, 
Daniela Arias notched seven steals and contributed 14 points.

Janaisha Carrington lead the Cougars with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals.

The Bearcats will return home on Monday, February 13, with a 5:30 p.m. contest against John Jay College. Prior to the game, the team will honor seniors 
Jacqueline Kennedy, Kristen Podlovits and Veronica Ganzi.
