BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds to help head coach Judy Blinstrub record her 600th career victory as Babson College defeated Emerson College, 72-51, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

Blinstrub becomes the seventh active coach and 14th all-time in Division III to record 600 wins as Babson moves to 19-4 overall and 13-1 in league play with its fourth straight victory. Emerson, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end, slips to 11-11 overall and 4-9 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) contributed 10 points and nine rebounds, while classmate Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass.) added nine points and nine boards for the Beavers. Sophomore Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mas.) chipped in with a career-high points and junior Hannah Metcalf (Middlebury, Conn.) finished with seven on 3-of-5 shooting.

Sophomore Natalie Busch (Weybridge, England) scored 17 points to go along with five rebounds for the Lions, who played the final three quarters without leading scorer Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.).

The Green and White trailed 16-13 after one, but outscored Emerson 14-0 in the second quarter to seize control of the game. Despite connecting on just three field goals in the frame, the Beavers went 8-of-11 at the free throw line and got eight points from Pickering to build a 27-16 lead at the break. The Lions went 0-of-11 from the floor and committed 10 turnovers in the stanza.

Emerson cut its deficit to eight on four occasions in the third quarter, but a three-pointer by Metcalf and four straight points from Russell helped Babson maintain a 46-35 edge entering the fourth quarter. Narlee and Russell combined for seven points to open the final period and first-year Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) converted a feed from Pickering to push the lead to 60-39 with 4:02 to play.

Pickering scored eight consecutive points to make it 68-41 and Tamulionis went 2-of-2 at the charity stripe to extend the margin to 29 with 2:01 remaining.

The Beavers shot just 37.3 percent on the night, but outscored the Lions 21-4 at the free throw line and 42-18 in the paint. The Green and White also scored 23 points off of 24 Emerson turnovers.

The Lions shot 30.4 percent overall and were just 5-of-31 (16.1 percent) from beyond the arc.

Babson is off until next Wednesday when it hosts WPI at 7:30 p.m., while Emerson visits Clark on Saturday at 1 p.m.
