Gwynedd Mercy Too Much For Immaculata

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- In a race for playoff seeding in the Colonial States Athletic Conference on Saturday the Griffins ran away with a 77-35 victory over visiting Immaculata at the Griffin Complex.

Charlotte Kucowski led the Griffins (11-10, 9-3 CSAC) with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Bianca Adams contributed 15 points with four assists and Nicole Dombrowski added 10 points and tied a career high with five blocks.

The Griffins would lead from start to finish jumping out to an early 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would build their largest lead 38-9 on a Monet McGorda layup late in the second and took a 40-12 lead into the halftime break. Gwynedd held Immaculata to just four made field goals in the half (4-of-35) and forced twelve turnovers. Kucowski paced the Griffins with 12 first half points while Dombrowksi chipped in 10.

Another McGorda bucket would stretch the lead to 56-18 through the third quarter and a Kucowski triple with under ten seconds remaining would give GM a 61-21 lead at the end of three. Adams and Kucowski would lead the Griffins with six points apiece in the frame.

Gwynedd would hold a 70-26 lead in the fourth with a Marisa Sullivan three-point play.  Marissa Sandone, Jayla Greene, Lyndsay Micucci, Chyanne Fine, Tolu Omole and Denise Sacco also contributed points in the fourth for the 77-35 win.

Theresa Walsh finished with nine points and seven boards while teammate Amber Ballinger kicked in seven points and 10 caroms for Immaculata (7-14, 7-5 CSAC).

GMercyU out-rebounded the Mighty Macs, 53-47. Greene grabbed five caroms while adding a personal-best nine points.

For the game Gwynedd shot 32-of-71 (45%) and connected on eight three pointers and held Immaculata to 10-of-67 (14%).

The Griffins return home on Wednesday to close out a three game home-stand hosting Cedar Crest at 6 p.m.
