BUENA VISTA, Va. – Behind the best shooting percentage this season, the Marymount (Va.) University women's basketball team registered its 10th Capital Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night with a 75-57 decision over Southern Virginia University.

Led by a tied career-high 23 points by senior Kiki Laux, the Saints went 28-for-48 from the floor for a 58.3-percent shooting percentage. Laux shot an impressive 8-for-9 for the night, while going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Jumping out to a 5-0 lead off the tip, Marymount never trailed in the contest, building up to as much as a 20-point advantage by the fourth quarter when junior Leah Hurst drove in for the inside finish with 3:21 left in the game to put the Saints ahead, 71-51.

Several runs by MU gave it an 18-11 lead through the first quarter, and it would continue into the second. A 19-point second quarter saw all the scoring come from Laux and freshman Regan Lohr, who finished the game with 13. Laux finished the 10-minute stretch with 10, while Lohr chipped in for the other nine. The Saints also dished out six assists in the quarter led by sophomore Tyffani McQueen with three.

The third quarter saw the most scoring in the game combined, as both teams poured in 23 points each. This time for the Saints, it was well-rounded scoring, seeing six different players find the bucket led by McQueen's six points and freshman Gabriella Haddad's five.

Marymount closed out the game with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Knights, 15-9, to cap off its 16th victory of the season.

The women return home on Saturday, February 4 for another CAC matchup, hosting Welsey College for Military Appreciation Day. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m., in the Verizon Sports Arena.
