Galloway, NJ – A three-pointer by Stockton with 13 seconds remaining sent the game into overtime and the host Ospreys took advantage outscoring No. 18 Montclair State 8-5 in a 68-65 victory on Monday evening.

Junior Katie Sire posted a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds however the Red Hawks (18-2, 11-2 NJAC) had their four-game winning streak snapped. Monday's game was a makeup of a January 8 postponement due to snow with the two teams now set to face off against the Panzer Athletic Center on Saturday, February 4 at 1:00 pm.

Despite the loss, Montclair maintained sole possession of first place as Kean (13-7, 10-3 NJAC) fell at Rutgers-Camden, 87-49.

The Red Hawks led 32-31 at the break but found themselves down by five heading into the fourth quarter. Stockton's April Peterson scored on a layup with 8:26 to play giving the Ospreys a 49-40 advantage before the Red Hawks responded with 15-5 run over the next seven minutes.

Sire knotted the game at 51-51 with 5:29 to play and after Stockton went back up 54-51, Taylor Harmon scored on the break and a layup by Zoe Curtis put MSU in front 55-54 with 1:49 to go. Peterson tied the game again with a free throw however Rachael Krauss drained a three-pointer with 36 tick left making the score 58-55 in favor of the Red Hawks.

Sasha Williams answered sinking two foul shots with 23 seconds pulling the Ospreys within 58-57. Zoe Curtis made two free throws 10 seconds later pushing the Montclair lead back to 60-57. But Mikila Stefanski connected from behind the arc with three seconds tying the game at 60-60. Montclair had a chance to win the game however Williams came up with a block at the buzzer.

In the extra period, Williams hit three times from the charity stripe and Najha Treadwell scored on a layup as Stockton held MSU scoreless for the first 3:46 while building a 66-60 lead. Sire got MSU on the board with a layup and free throw from Krauss closed the gap to 6-63 with 51 seconds. Sire then stole the ball and drove in for a layup cutting the lead to a point (66-65) with 28 seconds to go.
Stefanski misfired on two foul shots giving the Red Hawks a chance to win the game. But MSU couldn't come up with a basket and Petersen then iced the game making both her attempts from the foul line with three seconds remaining.

Krauss finished with 13 points and three rebounds for Montclair while Zoe Curtis chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds. Kate Tobie had nine rebounds and six assists with Taylor Harmon scoring eight points off the bench.

MSU is back in action on Wednesday, February 1 when it makes the short nine-mile trek to Wayne, NJ to face William Paterson University at 6:00 pm.
