Four starters scored in double figures for Buena Vista on Thursday afternoon, as the Beavers managed to hold off a scrappy Grinnell College team inside of Siebens Fieldhouse, 69-62.

Junior Jasmine Demers turned 15 points and seven rebounds with senior Jordan Tynes getting the start and registering 12 points and nine boards.  Holly Schneider chipped in with 11 points and two assists while senior Sidney Beckman made a pair of three-pointers for 10 points to go along with a game-high five assists.

Sophomore Morgan Muhlbauer came off the bench and narrowly missed double digits with nine points, but hauled in four rebounds and tallied four steals.

The Beavers led 21-14 after the first quarter, and after the Pioneers fought back to grab a 32-30 late in the first half, BVU finished the second quarter with six straight points for a 36-32 advantage.

After shooting 48.5 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes, the Beavers cooled off a bit in the second half, making only 34.4 percent.  BVU led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter before Grinnell (5-4) tried to rally in the fourth, but was too-little-too late.

Both teams made six three-point buckets in the contest with Grinnell slightly better from the free-throw line.

Buena Vista improves to 7-4 on the year and will be right back in action on Friday afternoon by hosting Grand View University at 2:00pm.
