UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — John Carroll University defeated Marietta College by the score of 77-66 Saturday (Dec. 10) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball. The loss drops Marietta to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the OAC. John Carroll improves to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Brooke Borich was the lone Pioneer in double figures with 10 points. Amisha Herd and Shay Lett chipped in with nine markers each, while Alexiss Enochs and Jordanna Rauch finished with eight points apiece. Lett grabbed a game-high six rebounds.

Katlyn Spahar led the Blue Streaks with 27 points. Shmoo Pryor and Madi Steiner added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Marietta scored the first eight points of the game and dominated the first quarter. The Pioneers led by as many as 12 points in the period and took a 24-16 lead into the second quarter.

The Blue Streaks won each of the final three quarters for the come from behind victory. JCU trimmed the deficit to three, 38-35, at halftime. They then outscored Marietta 23-15 in the third and 19-13 in the fourth quarter.

For the game, Marietta shot 43.5% (27-of-62) from the floor, 27.3% (6-of-22) from three-point range and 100% (6-of-6) at the free throw line. John Carroll was 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the floor, 11-of-24 (45.8%) behind the arc and 14-of-18 (77.8%) at the charity stripe.

Marietta edged the Blue Streaks on the boards, 35-32. The Pioneers turned the ball over 18 times in the game, while JCU committed 14 turnovers.

Marietta plays at Wilmington College next Saturday (Dec. 17) in a 3 p.m. match-up.
