CHICAGO, Ill. -- It was a frenetic, back-and-forth affair Sunday afternoon for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team.  Fortunately, the Fightin' Engineers found themselves on the winning end of a 59-55 decision against the North Park University Vikings.

Rose-Hulman held an early lead at 8-6 with 4:14 left in the opening quarter, but North Park, who entered today's contest with an undefeated record of 3-0, used a 10-2 run to close the quarter.  The Vikings' length and quickness on the wings made it difficult for Rose-Hulman to establish a consistent rhythm on the offensive end of the floor.  NPU led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Vikings continued their hot play in the opening minutes of the second frame and took a 28-16 lead with four minutes left in the second quarter.  RHIT would battle back and cut the Vikings' lead down to eight, trailing 30-22 at halftime.  

The game changed in the third quarter drastically.  Rose-Hulman opened the frame with a flurry of baskets and the Fightin' Engineer defense forced several turnovers.  Rose-Hulman outscored North Park 24-9 in the third quarter, taking a 46-39 lead into the final period of play.  

With 7:54 remaining RHIT held their largest lead of the afternoon at 53-44.  The Vikings mustered one final push and got within a basket with under a minute left.  The Fightin' Engineers converted a few late free throws and held on for a 59-55 win.

Ally Bromenschenkel led the Fightin' Engineers with 19 points and 6 rebounds.  She was named the North Park Invite Tournament MVP.  Alyzia Dilworth chipped in 10 points and added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  She was named to the North Park Invite All-Tournament Team as well. 

The win improves Rose-Hulman's record to 4-1.  The Fightin' Engineers will be back in action on Wednesday November 30 at Illinois Wesleyan.  Tip off is set for 7 p.m. central time.
