Panthers Pick Up 56-45 Win Over Louisiana College

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team picked up a big win in its season opener Tuesday night.  The Panthers topped Louisiana College 56-45 in Bill Battle Coliseum.

 

Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) earned her first collegiate double-double.  She led with game and career-highs 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks.

 

Jothani Dixon (Tuscumbia, Ala./Deshler HS) also finished with double-digit points.  She earned a season-high 11 in the win.

 

Down 29-28 at the half, the Panthers trailed by as many as five when they held Louisiana College (0-1) to just five points for over 14 minutes to take a seven-point lead.  The Wildcats would battle back to within three with two minutes to play.

 

But BSC pushed its lead out to 11 to earn the first win of the season.

 

The Panthers hit the road to Texas next.  They face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. and then take on Texas-Tyler on Monday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
