GALLOWAY, N.J. Junior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and sophomore Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown), combined for 42 points and 20 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to lift Gettysburg College to a victory in its season opener as FDU-Florham pulled away for a 91-75 victory in the opening game of the Stockton University Tip-off Tournament Friday night.

The two teams combined to shoot nearly 47 percent from the field, but FDU-Florham (1-0) scored 32 points off turnovers to eventually pull away from Gettysburg (0-1).

The Devils never trailed in the contest and used a 9-2 run to break a 4-all tie early in the first quarter. FDU-Florham grabbed a double-figure lead on a pair of free throws by Kayla Croswell to put the score at 22-12 with 2:20 left in the first period.

Gettysburg fell behind by 13 (42-29) with 3:26 remaining until halftime. A jumper in the paint by Gibbons kicked off a 12-3 run which ended with a three-pointer by Dorshimer to slice the deficit to 45-41 at the break.

The Devils seized the advantage with a nine-point run to start the third quarter. The Bullets closed the gap to seven by the end of the period and pulled to six (70-64) on a putback by freshman Lindsay Hiner (New Britain, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) with 6:47 remaining in the game. FDU-Florham struck back with a pair of buckets to regain a double-figure advantage and the lead steadily grew in the final minutes.
