Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball swept the two regular-season meetings against Hanover College, picking up a 69-61 road victory on Wednesday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.

The Grizzlies (15-7, 11-4 HCAC) started fast to hold a 21-9 lead after the first quarter. Franklin took a 21-point lead, 56-35, heading into the fourth quarter.

The visitors shot 45 percent from the floor and held Hanover to 32.1 percent shooting in the contest. Hanover made just two of its 14 three-point field goal attempts.

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) led the Grizzlies with 17 points. Junior Sarah Taylor (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) scored 12 points off the bench. Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) added 11 points in the victory.

Franklin held a 40-32 rebounding edge and had four players record five or more rebounds in the triumph.

The Grizzlies scored 11 straight points late in the first quarter to seize control of the game. Franklin used a 12-6 run over the final 6:30 of the first half to take a 38-25 lead into intermission. The team opened the second half on 14-4 run to stretch the advantage to 23 points, 52-29, after a three-point field goal by junior Riley Achenbach (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville).

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, February 13, at 1 p.m. when it hosts Mount St. Joseph University during the program's 'Play4Kay' game. Donations will be accepted throughout the game towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
