RICHMOND, Ind. – For the second time this season, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology used a fourth quarter run to defeat the Earlham College women's basketball team as the Fightin' Engineers edged the Quakers 62-52 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Wednesday.

With the score tied 46-46 after three quarters, Rose-Hulman opened the final period of play on a 15-2 run. In the game in Terre Haute back on Jan. 20, the Engineers opened the fourth quarter on a 14-3 run.

The entire first half was played within a six-point window as Rose-Hulman led by as many as four and Earlham by as many as two. In the third, the Engineers grabbed a 39-31 edge with 6:28 to play, but the Quakers had the answer, an 8-0 run over four minutes capped by two baskets from junior Hannah Franklin. Both teams would score seven points over the final 2:30 of the third quarter.

Then came the Engineer run that put the game away.

Franklin led all scorers with 16 points while also adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior Kasin Spay finished with 10 points and two blocks while fellow senior Kiara Scott added nine points off of the bench.

Chiarra Franklin led Rose-Hulman with 11 points off of the bench. Abbie Marshall tallied eight points to lead the Engineer starters.

Earlham made 23 field goals compared to 22 from Rose-Hulman. The Engineers, however, knocked in seven triples and 11 free throws compared to four three-pointers and two free throws for the Quakers.

The Engineers won the rebounding battle 45-27.

The Quakers return home for the final time during the 2015-16 season on Saturday. Earlham will host Hanover at 2 p.m. and honor its two seniors, Kiara Scott and Kasin Spay.
