HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College out-scored Gettysburg 13-4 in overtime on the way to a 68-59 decision in Centennial Conference women's basketball action side Gooding '84 Arena Saturday afternoon.

Coming off a victory over No. 11 Muhlenberg College on Thursday, Gettysburg (15-5, 9-5 CC) looked to even the season series with Haverford College (14-7, 9-5 CC) and gain some ground in the conference standings. With her team trailing 11-7 in the first quarter, freshman Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) kicked off a 12-0 run to end the period with a pair of three pointers.

Dorshimer remained hot in the second period, canning two more three-pointers and converting a lay-up. Gettysburg held an eight-point lead until a three-pointer by Samantha Wetzel made it 32-27 heading into halftime.

Dorshimer began the second half with an old-fashioned three-point play, but the hosts steadily chipped away at the deficit until a big run to end the frame. After a bucket by senior Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) made it 39-34, the Fords ended the third quarter on a 14-2 run with a lay-up by Darby Festa making the score 48-41 in favor of Haverford.

The Fords led 52-46 with 6:59 remaining in the game before Gettysburg roared back. The Bullets rattled off the next nine points with back-to-back buckets by Porter putting the visitors back in control 55-52 with 2:19 left.

Haverford converted on its next two possessions thanks to Sierra Berkel. Berkel knocked down a jumper to bring her team within a point and then tied the contest with a free throw with 1:04 remaining. Despite a pair of looks at its own hoop, Gettysburg was unable to convert before time ran out in regulation.

The Fords owned the extra session with Festa scoring a lay-up following an offensive carom by Macy Goldbach. Gettysburg shot just 1-of-8 from the floor in the period with the lone field goal by sophomore Annie Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) putting the score at 61-58 with 1:06 on the clock. Haverford knocked down 7-of-8 free throws in the final 49 seconds to seal the win.

After canning 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) attempts in the opening half, Gettysburg managed to shoot just 11-of-46 (23.9 percent) in the second period and overtime. The Bullets held a 42-39 advantage on the glass.

Dorshimer tied her collegiate high with 27 points. She finished 10-of-18 from the floor, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Porter tallied a dozen points and six rebounds, while Gibbons corralled 13 rebounds to go with six points. Reilly led the reserves with 11 points and six rebounds.

Wetzel paced Haverford with 22 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Katie Cook turned in a dozen tallies, while Berkel finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
