Hamilton women turned back at Bates

The Hamilton College women's basketball team opened a weekend NESCAC road trip with a 52-41 loss at Bates. 

The Continentals trailed by as many as 23 points before outscoring the host Bobcats 20-11 in the fourth quarter. Both teams are now 5-9 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC.

The host Bobcats held Hamilton to six points in each of the first two quarters on their way to a 32-12 halftime lead.

Carly Gruenberg '16 paced Hamilton with 12 points and four assists (one short of her career high). She also pulled down six rebounds. Sam Graber '16 was the Continentals' top rebounder with eight. She raised her career total to 1,212 points – one behind Jen Moran '99 for fifth on the program's all-time list.

Claire Hebb '19 and Halie Serbent '19 both scored seven points. Kate Bushell '17 finished with three steals.

Allie Coppola recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Bates. Nina Davenport scored a game-high 17 points.

The Continentals play a 3 p.m. game at Tufts Saturday. The Jumbos are ranked ninth in this week's Top 25 coaches poll and 12th in the D3hoops.com poll.
