Gwynedd Mercy Women Defeats Notre Dame, 69-45

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Basketball team recorded its fourth- straight victory and remains unbeaten in CSAC play with a 69-45 win over the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday evening.

Senior Olivia Bradford led the way for the Griffins (12-3, 6-0 CSAC) with 13 points and six rebounds.  Chandler DiFebbo was not far behind with 11 and Julianna Hoisington chipped in nine. Alison Szyszko and Charlotte Kucowski both added eight apiece.

Chandler DiFebbo's three-pointer got the Griffins off on the right foot and kicked off an 11-0 run for GM in the first. The Gators managed to cut the lead to five before the end of the period and got as close as 20-18 with 5:40 left in the second.  But GM would make another 14 point run capped by a three by Hoisington with 3:17 left in the half.  The second quarter run reestablished a double digit lead for GM as they went into the break, up 38-25.

Building on first half momentum, the Griffins continued to widen the gap, stretching their lead to as many as 33 points with 2:34 left in the third.

Leading the way for the Gators (5-9, 1-5 CSAC) was Justice Walrath and Zaria Comer with nine points each. Comer also added a game-high 10 rebounds and two blocks.

The Griffins went 26-for-72 (36.1%) from the field compared to a 16-for-58 (27.6%) effort by the Gators.
