TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Sophomore forward Samantha Bolen (Greenwood, Ind.) registered the sixth double-figure scoring game of her career and a personal single-game high, guiding Manchester University at Rose-Hulman Saturday, Jan. 9.

Bolen hit just under 50 percent from the field (five-of-11 – 45.5) and better than 65 percent at the charity stripe (six-of-nine – 66.7) in route to a 16-point afternoon inside Hulbert Arena. She also blocked a pair of Fightin' Engineer shot attempts and picked up a pair of steals for the Spartans (4-9 overall, 2-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference).

Despite her efforts, Rose-Hulman broke away from a nip-and-tuck first 10 minutes behind a 37-19 run over the second and third periods to lead them to a 70-45 conference victory. The hosts proved difficult to solve shooting-wise, hitting at a 50 percent clip from the field overall and better than 53 percent from outside the arc.

Manchester University resumes a brief two-game road swing Wednesday, Jan. 13, traveling to Bluffton University for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

NOTES: The Black and Gold trio of senior guards Justine Kruger (Francisville, Ind.) and Katie Arterburn (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman center Maddy Minehart (Auburn, Ind.) narrowly missed joining Bolen in double-digit scoring. Arterburn fired in eight points to go with a co-team high three assists and a team-best four steals, while Kruger and Minehart ended with seven apiece. Minehart also earned a pair of blocked shots.
