Cabrini Fires on All Cylinders in 82-46 Win at Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Cavaliers played perhaps their most complete game of the season today, as the Cabrini women's basketball team scored a dominant 82-46 win at Neumann University.  
With the win, the Blue and White evened its overall record at 7-7, including 4-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Cabrini found its shooting touch today, connecting on a season high 50.9% of hits field goal attempts. The 82 points also marked a season high, as did the team's 29 made field goals, 18 made free throws, 15 assists and 14 steals.

Five Cavaliers scored at least eight points, led by freshman Nomi Washington, who posted a career high 14 points off the bench. Senior Meghan Martin tallied a game high 13 points, while classmate Kristina Startare hit 5-6 from the floor en route to a season high 12 points.

Sophomore Sabrina Hackendorn added 11 points, while fellow sophomore Kate Skalski chipped in with eight points.

The Blue and White dominated the glass to the tune of a 41-31 rebound advantage.  Senior Dana Peterson led the way with a career high 10 rebounds, while Martin, Hackendorn and senior Mo O'Connell secured five boards each.

The Cavaliers opened the game on a high note, as Hackendorn completed a three point play on the game's first possession.  The lead grew as large as 10 points on Washington's lay-up late in the first quarter, as the Blue and White ended the first quarter with a 22-13 lead.

The Knights pulled to within 24-18 just over a minute into the second quarter before Cabrini closed the door for good.  The Cavaliers closed the quarter on a 19-4 run, as they held Neumann to just 2-11 shooting and forced eight turnovers.  By the half, the Blue and White owned a 43-22 lead.

Cabrini showed no let-up in the third quarter, as it held the Knights to just 11 points in the period on 4-12 shooting with seven turnovers.  Meanwhile, the Cavaliers continued their balanced scoring, as eight players recorded between 2-5 points in the 23 point period.

The Blue and White held Neumann 21 points below its season scoring average and to .333 shooting from the floor, among the Knights' lowest shooting percentages of the year.  Neumann's 26 turnovers, which led to 26 Cabrini points, also marked a season high.

Johanna Metzger led Neumann (5-9, 3-2 CSAC) with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Nafisa Saunders added eight points and six boards.

The Cavaliers have a few days to recover as they won't return to action until next Saturday, when they travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. to face Summit University of Pa. (2-6, 0-4 CSAC).  Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
