Tommies edge Titans in battle of top-10 teams

Junior Kaitlin Langer scored 23 points and sophomore Lauren Fischer recorded her first career double double with 10 points and a career-best 13 boards as No. 10-ranked St. Thomas Women's Basketball edged No. 5-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 67-58, in Wednesday's third-place game at the Wartburg tournament in Waverly, Iowa.

UST (9-2) halted a two-game losing streak. The Toms sank 23-of-27 at the foul line, including 11-of-14 in the fourth quarter.

Alex Richard posted 10 points and six rebounds for Oshkosh (9-2).

Hannah Spaulding sank two layups to start a late 7-0 run in the final 3:15 that pushed the Tommie lead to 62-52.

UST freshman Kaylie Brazil contributed a career-high 12 points and four rebounds off the bench, including a 10-for-10 day at the foul line. Brazil scored just four points in four games this season before scoring 10 points in Tuesday's loss.

After playing nine of their last 10 games away from campus, the Tommies will play their next three games at home starting Jan. 6 against Gustavus.
