Canton, NY – Seniors Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) and Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) both recorded double-doubles as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team made a furious fourth quarter comeback attempt but ultimately fell short, 61-53, to Oswego State on Tuesday evening at the Roos House.

The Roos (1-4) outscored the Lakers (1-4) 21-6 over the final 10 minutes but were unable to overcome the large deficit. Trailing 55-32 to start the fourth, SUNY Canton put on extensive full court pressure that frustrated the Oswego State guards. The Lakers committed 23 turnovers in the contest, 15 of which came after halftime.

Terrance paced the Roos with 18 points and 12 rebounds in just 24 minutes of action, while Sayer added 14 points and 11 boards. Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) netted nine points and added eight steals and four assists.

Alison Nunziato recorded 14 points for the Lakers, while Sarah Feminella and Zana Dillard added 11 and nine points, respectively.
Oswego State led 15-10 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 40-24 at intermission as they closed out the half on a 20-to-8 run. The Lakers shot 41 percent from long distance (7-for-17).

The women's basketball team is back in action on Sunday when it visits Albany College of Pharmacy at 2 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our TwitterInstagram and YouTube accounts.
