KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds dropped their second-consecutive contest Saturday, December 5th, as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point came into Tarble Arena and squeaked out a 63-60 win over Carthage.

The loss drops the Lady Reds to 4-2 on the season, while the Pointers improve to 4-2.

Rachel Szydlowski, Mandy Hozzian and Morgan Vukovich, each of who were in double-figures with career-highs in points, led Carthage. Szydlowski led all scorers in the game with 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. Mandy Hozzian scored a career-high 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 2-of-2 from three-point range, while Morgan Vukovich equaled her career best with 10 in the defeat.

Carthage's leading scorers on the season were never able to really get going as Bailey Gilbert was held to just three points and Morgan Harris was limited to six. Harris did however add team-highs in rounds and assists with 12 and six respectively.

The back and forth battle saw six ties and 14 lead changes in the game with Carthage's largest lead being six and UWSP's at five.

The Lady Reds struggled on the boards, allowing 20 offensive rebounds to the Pointers, creating a 26-7 advantage on second-chance points for Stevens Point. In the game the Pointers snagged 15 more rebounds than the Lady Reds for a 46-31 edge.

Carthage, who is still without their two seniors, had a couple chances down the stretch to tie and regain the lead but the pesky Stevens Point front court managed to alter the Lady Reds chances enough to hold on for the win.

The Lady Reds conclude their three game home stand Wednesday, December 9th when Carthage plays host to Coe College at 6:00 p.m. at Tarble Arena.
