BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Lauren Hayden poured in a career-best 26 points to lead 16th-ranked University of New England past No. 18 Bowdoin College, 66-46, in women's basketball action Tuesday evening (Nov. 24) at Morrell Gymnasium.

With the decision between the nationally-ranked foes, the Nor'easters improve to 3-0 while the Polar Bears drop to 1-2.

Hayden made 8-for-10 from the floor and 10-of-14 at the line to surpass her previous scoring high by seven points, and added five rebounds and four steals. Alanna Vose rattled home her first field goal of the night just before the halftime buzzer and ended with 16 points. Sadie DiPierro contributed three treys (9 points) and a team-high eight rebounds. Meghan Gribbin pulled in seven boards and dished out five assists for UNE, and Olivia Shaw chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

The Nor'easters shot just under 40 percent (23 for 58) from the field in the game and turned 20 Bowdoin turnovers into 18 points going the other direction.

For the hosts, who were limited to 27 percent (18 for 66) accurracy on shot attempts, Shannon Brady and Abigail Kelly led the way with 10 points apiece. Brady also collected a game-high nine rebounds for the Polar Bears, who totaled a 46-42 edge on the glass.

Shaw gave UNE its first advantage (13-12) with the last basket of the opening quarter and the visitors never trailed again. The margin increased to nine (28-19) by halftime, and extended to 15 (47-32) by the conclusion of 30 minutes.

The Nor'easters have now defeated the Bowdoin as many times in the last four meetings (3 wins, 1 losses) as they did during the first 33 contests (3 wins, 30 losses) between the programs.

UNE will have another tough test next Monday (Nov. 30) when it visits No. 3 Tufts University.
