GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- DeSales handed Gwynedd Mercy its first loss of the season in an 81-58 defeat at the Griffin Complex Saturday afternoon.

An early barrage of three-pointers from the Bulldogs, coupled with shooting troubles by the Griffins, put GMercyU in an 11-point hole after the first and a 15-point deficit at the half.

Junior Charlotte Kucowski notched her second double-double of the season (16 points/11 rebounds) while Olivia Bradford added 12 and Bianca Adams with 11.

DeSales would hit five of their seven first-half three-pointers in the first, three from Kaitlin Kelly to help open double-digit lead. The team would go 7-for-12 from downtown while Kelly would have 12 points and Morgan McCollian had 10 in the first 20 minutes.

The Griffins, who shot 32% (9-for-28), were guilty of 13 first-half turnovers, leading to 14 Bulldog points.

In the third, a 19-5 DeSales run over the last 5:45 to end the quarter gave them their largest lead of the contest (65-37).

Gwynedd would open the fourth on a 15-2 run to give it a final push, as Adams' three-pointer with 6:11 to go, made it a 67-52 game. But it was McCollian, who scored 10 points in the final period, and company limited GMercyU without field goal in the final 4:16.

McCollian led all scorers with 22 points and added a team-high seven rebounds. Kelly chipped in 19 and Jen Napolitano with 11 off the bench for DeSales (2-1).

Gwynedd Mercy is off until Monday, November 30th when they head to Reading, Pa. to face off with Alvernia in a 7 p.m. tip.
