King’s Women’s Basketball Impressive in 75-30 Victory at Penn State Wilkes-Barre

KING'S WOMENS BASKETBALL STAYS UNDEFEATED WITH 75-30 WIN AT PENN STATE WILKES-BARRE

LEHMAN, PA --- The King's College women's basketball team recorded their second road victory of the year with an impressive 75-30 win at Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday night in Lehman.

The Lady Monarchs improve to 2-0 on the young season while the Lions are dealt their first loss of the year to fall to 3-1.

King's came out strong to start the game scoring the first eight points on three foul shots from Alexis Steeber, a three-pointer by Cayle Spencer, and a jumper in the paint by Olivia Hoffman. The Lady Monarchs were able to outscore the Lions 11-9 the rest of the quarter to take a 19-9 lead. In the second quarter the King's defense smothered the Penn State Wilkes-Barre offense and held them to just six points while the Lady Monarch offense were able to extend the lead to 36-15 at the half.

In the third quarter King's continued their strong defensive effort holding the Lions to just four points in the quarter. On the offensive end Jennifer Fabian scored the first seven points of the quarter on two layups with a three-pointer in the middle. King's scored 18 points total in the quarter to take a 54-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter the Lady Monarchs exploded for 21 points while Penn State Wilkes-Barre were able to put up 11 as King's subbed liberally with the game pretty much in hand.

Jennifer Fabian led the way for the Lady Monarch recording her second double-double of the year with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Kayla Feairheller added nine points and five steals while Cayle Spencer had nine points on three three-pointers. Alexis Steeber just missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds while Shae Grim had eight points and Olivia Hoffman had six points, four rebounds, and three blocks.

As a team the Lady Monarchs shot 34.2% (25-73) from the floor including 19.4% (6-31) from three-point range and shot 79.2% (19-24) from the foul line. King's outrebounded the Lions 57-38 and forced 31 turnovers while only committing 19. The King's defense held the Lions to shooting 21.8% (12-55) from the floor and 8.3% (1-12) from beyond the three-point line.

King's will return to action on Friday night when they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. to compete in the Oneonta Holiday Classic at SUNY Oneonta. The Lady Monarchs will face Hartwick College on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
