Porter Named All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior forward Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) was named All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team by D3hoops it was announced Monday. 

Porter copped her first all-region selection as one of the top 10 players in the Mid-Atlantic. She led Gettysburg in a number of statistical categories, including points per game (15.4), rebounds per game (7.3), and free throw percentage (.803). Porter finished fifth, seventh, and second, respectively, in the Centennial Conference in those categories. She also finished second on the team and sixth in the conference in blocked shots per game (1.3). 

From the outset, Porter was a rock for the Bullets. She scored 21 points in the season opener on the way to being named MVP of the Frostburg State University Tip-off Tournament. The junior turned in 20 or more points six times on the season, including notching a career-high 28 against both Franklin & Marshall College and Haverford College. She closed the campaign with a game-high 18 points against Haverford in the conference playoffs. 

Porter has scored 831 points, grabbed 452 rebounds, and blocked 91 shots in her career. She will enter her senior campaign with career averages of 11.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. 

Porter, who was also named All-Centennial Conference First Team, is Gettysburg's second-straight selection to the All-Mid-Atlantic Team. Caroline Murphy '14 was a third-team honoree last winter. Three other Centennial players were also named to the All-Mid-Atlantic team this year in McDaniel's Lindsey Nichols, Swarthmore's Elle Larsen, and Muhlenberg's Leanna Tallamy. Nichols was a first-team honoree, while Larsen and Tallamy joined Porter on the second team. 

Gettysburg finished 16-9 overall and 10-8 in conference play this season. The Bullets won the Frostburg State and Gettysburg Tournaments and qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs.
